Punk is an attitude, not a style

In its first year, Strummerfest captured the hearts of punks and other rockers old and new, people who remember Joe Strummer, who love music and who want there to be more to it than merely sound.  Music with substance.  That's what Strummer was about; it's something Strummerfest seeks to encourage.

When year two came around, we decided it was a proper time to share what we really thought about many things relevant to our musical, charitable and memorial aims.  That became an almost daily blog for a while, called Strummerfest Philosophy.  Currently, it's still a page on Facebook -- you can access it using the link at the bottom of this and every page on this site.  In time, we'll upload it's main entries to this site as well.

Just remember, we aren't interested in your agreement with what we say.  But we are interested in encouraging you to say your own thing, do your own thing, and create something that makes the world a better place than when you crawled out into it.  In our small way, that's what we're trying to do too.  And we say that's what punk is really all about.
